Artist Statement

Monica is a visual artist from Baltimore, Maryland. From an early age she began using a variety of mediums such as drawing and pottery as a means of expression. She later went on to study both Fine Art and Visual Communication Design at University. It was here she found a deep love for painting and print making. These classes set the trajectory for a surrealist and graphical style built around portraiture and landscape. Her detailed pieces attempt to embody our synergy with nature as well as embolden femininity and growth.

Often times, embracing the female form, subjects are almost always void of background, intentionally floating in space to signify our small existence in this vast universe. Her latest series explores finding self-empowerment in facing new beginnings and celebrates the mystical beauty of our planet. Since moving to the West coast from New York, she's been taken aback by the supreme natural beauty of both the Pacific and the National Parks. Monica would ultimately like to explore larger scale, outdoor murals of these themes.

Her work has been shown in cities nationwide including Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans, and Las Vegas. She is currently living and working in Venice, CA. For bookings or commissions please contact me.
